And so to Stonehedge

Parked up on the Drove Road, Willow carefully starts carving her staff with an enormous sheath knife...

And cooks dinner!

Mmm stew

Look! You can see the Stones from here!

New steps... undercoated

Time for a selfie?

Oh noes! She's turning into a crusty brew crewer!

Uffington White Horse

After Claydon we trogged down to Uffington. The car park there used to have a 'No Overnight Camping' sign but mysteriously it wasn't there when we arrived. Weird. Anyway, as Willow pointed out, we weren't camping, we were parking up. So nur!

Lovely site to park on, great views over the Oxfordshire hills.

I decided to put the steps together - I had cut the wood to size so it was juts a question of cutting the rebates and gluing it together.

And we had a camp fire oops sorry I mean park-up fire

And we're off!

So, the start of our first venture out and about. Granted half the stuff on the van is still to be done... but we had a date with the Stones! :)

Friday night we stopped over at the Claydon Locks near Rugby. Lovely quiet spot...

Burner in!

Som the bruner, offered up:

Cut a hole in the roof (!!!)

The magic heatproof silicone thing. Also note extension handles on pop riveter because I'm getting old!

Messy business. Lots of silicone.

Found a sheet of stainless from an old dishwasher...

Beginning Willow's bunk bed

Smoke!

Tadaaaa

And, the bottom bunk/sofa in, too. And a sheet of heatproof glasroc-F behind the stove.

Fettled and Fit... More doors...

Whilst Delilah was off at the Fettlers (full service, new shock, new bushes, fix suspension springs, new track rod ends...), I did some more work on the door - that being the only bit still present.

Glazing:

 The new stove from Julian:

And this arrived! Fuses!

Bulkhead Light

So, I wanted a light on the outside of the back doors, that was low power and quite bright, and also I quite like those bulkhead lights.

I'm sure Willow will have something to say about that...

Anyway I looked at the 12V available stuff and they were all super expensive - designed for boats or caravans... so I made my own...

Start with a GU5.3 NR16 bulb (12V, 1W, 0.1A, £1.30), part of a milk carton (Organic Waitrose Duchy of Cornwall WFT is that doing in my house?), and the 240V 60W bulkhead fitting (£4, Amazon)

Hot glue the light fitting in place:

Put the diffuser/milk carton over it

And voila! 😎

Solar Panel Testing

So, I wanted to check that the solar panels I bought off eBay (£75, 250W, 8A, each), and the PWM charge regulator (Amazon, £20, 30A), all work. As it was shaping up for a nice day, I broke out some 26A cable and wired it all together.

Result: Power!!!
