Disaster

Turns out I'm an idiot and shouldn't be allowed out unsupervised, let alone in charge of building a living vehicle.

Apparently rockwool insulation collects moisture and disintegrates. So needs to be wrapped in plastic and sealed, before being used.

So, all the plywood needs to come off and all the insulation bagged up.

F*ck fuc* fu*kity f*ck.

Offering up the doors

Just tacking the doors on to see how they look.

Rather good, I should say 😊

We'll gloss over the fact I put a 'bit of wood' (a whole half of the ceiling) in the way of the roller-shutter and I've had to re-engineer it... especially as it was glued on with 'Sticks Like Sh*t'**)

Glass due Friday.

** Turns out, yes it does.

Paneling - ticky!

Pretty much completed the paneling now. Doors next I think :)

Fully Solar

So we returned to Chesterfield. Now have panels. They are bigger than Willow!

MORE Insulation!

Today has been... a day.

Lots of insulation:

Willow got very excited! And she also used her power tool skillz...

She took this charming picture of me...

Then we decided to go and collect the solar panels. I had lined up a couple off eBay at £75 each (the full size 250W ones) and also managed to accidentally bid on another one with AuctionSniper which I won for £60. So that's 3 panels in all. So.... one spare, then :)

Anyway the one for £60 wasn't ready to be collected (Why? No one knows) so we rocked up to Chesterfield in the ContractorMobile (5 series BMW) only to discover - they are fu*king hyowge! Damnit. Should have brough the truck. Queue "I said! I bloody said!" from Herself. Huh. So its back to Chesterfield tomorrow in Delilah. Two panels. On the roof. 500W. Electric fridge. Free lighting. Soundz! I'll still run a Tilley lamp though... I just like the noise. And the smell.

And although we stopped for tea, and a film (Gods of Egypt...?!), I went out and did some more after hours. So I'm pretty chuffed.

And so it begins...

The best thing about having an account at the building supplies place is you can fill up with stuff and ... pay ... eventually. Cos we're skint.

Also, we found some glue called "Sticks Like Shit". So, obviously, we had to buy some.

Victoria Ramsbotham

Victoria Ramsbotham, previously of Microburn, has graciously decided to be the Delilah truck mascot. I decided some blue eye sockets would be just the thing. Some field effect transistor tinkering later...

(For some reason video seems to not work...???)

Insulation

Marvellously we had a couple of sacks of 50mm Isoltherm insulation left over from another job. So we tried it out to see if it would fit. That's a yes, then.

I also found a bunch of hardwood doors in the shed. That's the back door, then.

Nowhere Tickets bought! Yayness!

We bought a van!

A 2006 Mercedes Sprinter with a box on the back. 200,000 miles. 6 month's MoT. £2100.
Her name is Delilah. 😎😎😎
